Renewing Certification as a Volunteer Deputy Registrar

and

Volunteer Opportunities to Register New Voters

This January began the opportunity to certify as a Voter Deputy Registrar or to renew status for this biennium since certifications expired at the end of 2024. LWVR has many upcoming opportunities to register and educate voters for the upcoming May elections and we could use as many certified VDRs as possible.

Classes are available in all counties. Here is the link to register for a class in Dallas: Dallas County VDR class registration. In one of the early in person Class in Dallas county, 4 LWV Richardson members participated. Several other LWV Richardson members already renewed prior to that class We would love to add your name to the list!

Collin County has both virtual and in person classes posted and will schedule by appointment, Their website is : Collin County Elections. Denton County has virtual training and will mail your registration Denton County Elections.

Each county will provide registration if one is already a registered VDR in another county. You can choose which option works best for you. Then, you can apply for reciprocal VDR certification in the other counties.

Please let us know once you have gotten your new VDR status which will be good until the end of 2026! Just send an email to: VoterReg@lwvrichardson.org. We would love to hear from you.

Upcoming events where help is needed include the Lunar festival in Richardson on February 8th, upcoming USCIS naturalization ceremonies, the spring Boho Markets or other community drives planned.

In addition, this year, we are focused on registering voters in vocational and technical schools while continuing our efforts in colleges and high schools. We hope you will join in the endeavor to engage people in voting. Feel free to reach out if you have questions or want to volunteer for a specific effort mentioned.

Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)

and

Medicaid for Children

The LWV-Richardson is a long-time supporter of CHIP and Children’s Medicaid.Members can help with an application help session at St. Barnabas PresbyterianChurch, 1220 W. Belt Line Road, Richardson 75080 from 9 to noon on Feb. 22,2025. Spanish speaking experts will be available to assist.

On Jan 18, 2025, the Community Council of Greater Dallas experts, MarcieSalamone and I helped 2 families apply.

Families who do not have coverage through their employment such as seasonalworkers, employees who work part-time, grandparents who are raising theirgrandchildren, those who are currently unemployed, and teenagers who are “ontheir own” are some of our neighbors who might be interested. Children must becitizens or legal residents to receive benefits.
