Subject: Results of May 3 Election
From: LWVRichardson

Richardson ISD District 2 Race
has been decided

When Dallas County Elections Office reported the results on election night for the May 3rd Election, the results were:
  • Elaine Bonavita had 6.77% of the votes cast.
  • Vanessa Pacheco (incumbent) had 49.94% of the votes cast.
  • Pamela Hughes had 43.29% of the votes cast.
Since no candidate got a majority (over 50%), it appeared that there would be a runoff on June 7 between the top two vote-getters,  Vanessa Pacheco and Pamela Hughes, if ballots by mail and provisional ballots did not change the result.

HOWEVER!

At 4:04pm today (Friday, May 9), Dallas County Elections Department released its Unofficial Final Summary Results Report for the May 3, 2025 election. The change in votes for Richardson ISD Board of Trustees District 5 were:
  • Elaine Bonavita:  no change
  • Vanessa Pacheco:  49 more Ballot By Mail votes
  • Pamela Hughes: 18 more Ballot By Mail votes
This changes the percentage of votes won by each candidate:
  • Elaine Bonavita: 6.72%
  • Vanessa Pacheco: 50.09%
  • Pamela Hughes: 43.19%
Because incumbent Vanessa Pacheco received a majority (more than 50%) of the votes cast, there should be no need for a runoff election in District 2.
