Paul Adams,
Dallas County Administrator,
will speak on Election Integrity.
Don't miss it!

Please come and join us on September 15th as we have invited Paul Adams, Dallas County’s Election Administrator, to a midday conversation about voting in 2026.

This event will take place from noon-1PM at the Richardson ISD Administrative Building Auditorium, 400  S. Greenville Ave., Richardson Texas 75081.

We will have on-site voter registration as well as provide folks with an opportunity to hear Mr. Adams speak and to ask questions.  Getting accurate information directly from the source is crucial in these times.

LWVR Is Reviewing All Its Local Positions
Next Zoom meeting: Thursday, September 24

LWVR's Local Program Planning meeting was held on February 11. It was determined that, although there is no need to change our positions, we should review their language and consider revisions that would broaden their application. Our positions may be found here
Five local positions (1, 2, 3, 4, and 7) have already been reviewed. The schedule to review the remaining positions via Zoom at 7pm:
  • September 24 -  Position 5: Public Health Care Services in Richardson & Position 6: Video Recording City Council and RISD Trustee Meetings.  Join the Zoom meeting.
  • October 22 - Review proposed changes for all 7 positions
Although only LWVR members can vote to make changes to a position, we invite the larger community to attend a meeting to give input. We welcome your insight in proposing updated language for our positions.

National Voter Registration Month
Can YOU help with voter registration?

National Voter Registration Month takes place every September to encourage eligible citizens to ensure their information is up to date before upcoming elections.

The heat is on leading up to the November 3rd election! LWV Richardson’s Voter registration drives have been held in public spaces, schools, churches and senior facilities. There has been an increased interest in voting so far this summer. October 5th is the deadline to be registered to be eligible to vote in November.
Multiple events are planned for September for both Richardson and Richardson ISD events as well as through our countywide collaborative efforts. Please contact
if you are interested in helping at events such as the Boho Market, PTA events, events at senior facilities, a National Voter Registration day effort or even during our Office Hours (Tuesdays from 2-4 beginning September 29th)

As part of our county wide collaboration, Richardson League members frequently help with voter registration efforts at Richland College, since it is within Richardson ISD. We will also likely provide voter registration at least one other Richardson higher ed campus. Finally, Dallas County Elections is significantly increasing voter registration opportunities at County tax offices, including all business days leading up to the October 5 registration deadline. If you are interested in any of the above opportunities, please contact

Voters Guide Distribution
for the November 3rd Election

The City of Richardson no longer allows LWVRichardson to distribute our nonpartisan Voters Guide at any City facility or function.

We want to give a major shout-out to
  • Arapaho United Methodist Church,
  • Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration,
  • First United Methodist Church of Richardson, and
  • Hamilton Park United Methodist Church.
for allowing us to make our nonpartisan Voters Guides available to their communities for the November 3rd Election.

Thank you! We hope to hear back from other organizations we have approached.

Please contact vg@lwvrichardson.org with other distribution options.

CHIP

Council of PTAs Sept. 2026

All Texas residents are welcome to attend for information and assistance in applying for insurance for children.
Our next opportunity to help will be on:

September 19, 2026
from 9 am to noon
at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church
1220 West Belt Line
Road, Richardson, 75080

On August 22, 2026 during a Health Fair at St. Barnabas Presbyterian Church, 43 attendees received information and invitations to attend the September help session. The League has advocated for affordable accessible health care for children for many years. Texas continues to have more  uninsured children than any other state. For more information or to volunteer to help, chip@lwvrichardson.org

Please invite anyone you think may benefit to attend.

As usual, Texas leads the nation in the number of uninsured children. Families who do not have coverage through their employment such as seasonal workers, employees who work part-time, grandparents who are raising their grandchildren on a fixed income, those who are currently unemployed, and teenagers who are “on their own” are some who might have eligible children. Thank you for your support and help.  Federal funding for health care and for the non-profits that assist families that are challenged to afford health care has decreased.  Anything we can do is even more important than ever. It is more cost effective to provide immunizations, check-ups, and early intervention in childhood illnesses than to wait for a problem to develop into an emergency.

Have a Question for
TXHD 102 or 112 Candidates?

One way LWVRichardson works alongside Leagues all across Texas is by hosting forums for candidates running in state and local elected offices. LWVTexas assigns various Texas legislative districts to specific Leagues prior to statewide elections. For the November, 2026, elections, the Richardson League is responsible for Texas House Districts 102 (Ana-Maria Ramos, incumbent, vs. Bonnie Abadie) and 112 (Angie Chen Button, incumbent, vs. Zach Herbert).

The Voter Service Team invites all our members and other community members to submit potential questions for the candidates online to forums@lwvrichardson.org. Questions submitted by email prior to the forum will be given the same consideration as questions submitted at the forum.

Richardson City Council Will Appoint
A New Member To Fill Place 3.

Richardson City Council Place 3, in southwest Richardson, is currently open.  When there is one vacancy on City Council (other than the Mayor), the vacancy is filled by appointment through a majority vote of the remaining members of City Council. The appointee must meet the qualifications required by the City Charter and will serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which ends May, 2027.  The process ends when Council votes on the replacement on September 28.  The newly-appointed Council member will be sworn in at that time.

For all the details on the process, incuding the schedule, eligibility requirements, a tool to help you find out if you live in Place 3, go to the

The next City Council election will be on May 1, 2027.
